Acton Academy is a network of learner-driven schools that are transforming education by turning learning upside down. We believe that all children are capable of learning at a high level, and we provide them with the environment and support they need to thrive. Our schools are based on the four pillars of freedom, responsibility, excellence, and purpose.
Freedom
At Acton Academy, students have the freedom to learn what they want, when they want, and how they want. We believe that children are naturally curious and that they will learn best when they are allowed to pursue their interests. Our schools provide students with a variety of learning opportunities, including:
- Project-based learning
- Self-directed learning
- Socratic seminars
- Field trips
- Mentoring
Students are also free to set their own goals and track their own progress. This helps them to develop a sense of ownership over their learning and to become more self-motivated.
Responsibility
Along with freedom comes responsibility. At Acton Academy, students are expected to be responsible for their own learning. This means that they need to be self-motivated, organized, and disciplined. We help students to develop these skills through our:
- Daily planning sessions
- Weekly goal setting
- Monthly progress reports
- Peer evaluations
Students are also responsible for their behavior. We expect them to be respectful of others, to follow school rules, and to take responsibility for their actions.
Excellence
At Acton Academy, we believe that all students are capable of achieving excellence. We provide them with the support and resources they need to reach their full potential. Our schools offer a rigorous academic curriculum that is based on the latest research on how children learn. We also provide students with access to a variety of extracurricular activities, including:
- Sports
- Clubs
- Arts
- Music
We believe that excellence is more than just achieving high grades. It is also about developing a love of learning, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to making a difference in the world.
Purpose
At Acton Academy, we believe that every child has a unique purpose in life. We help students to discover their purpose by providing them with opportunities to explore their interests, develop their talents, and make a positive contribution to the world. Our schools offer a variety of programs and activities that help students to:
- Develop their leadership skills
- Learn about different cultures
- Engage in social justice
- Start their own businesses
We believe that education should be more than just preparing students for college or a career. It should also help them to find their purpose in life and to make a difference in the world.
Acton Academy is a unique and innovative approach to education. We are turning learning upside down by giving students the freedom, responsibility, excellence, and purpose they need to thrive. Our schools are helping to create a generation of leaders who are prepared to change the world.
