The Early Years: 1961-1970

The Fantastic Four debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 in November 1961. The team consisted of Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm. Richards was a brilliant scientist who invented a machine that could teleport objects to other dimensions. Storm and Grimm were his friends, and Storm's brother, Johnny, was a hot-headed teenager who idolized Richards. The four friends decided to use Richards' machine to travel to the Negative Zone, but something went wrong and they were bombarded with cosmic rays. The cosmic rays gave them superpowers, and they became the Fantastic Four.
